Man riding baskets

Rope-, or more precisely, chain-suspended man riding baskets operate wherever the environment or the kind of intervention don’t allow for the use of standard person lifting systems. These baskets cannot be certified as a MEWP. They may only be used in exceptional circumstances, where a safer means of access is not reasonably practicable, and only after a specific risk assessment and a lift plan prepared by a competent person, in accordance with the regulations in force in the country of use.

Applications:

Man riding baskets are used where no ground-based access equipment can reach the work point and a crane basket fitted to the boom is not a viable option. Typical applications include:
- work over water, such as bridges, docks, piers and port structures;
- access to shafts, tanks, silos and confined spacesfrom above;
- industrial plants and tall structures, such as chimneys, towers and process equipment;
- emergency interventions and rescue operations, where quick access at height is needed;
- construction sites with obstructed ground, where a MEWP cannot be positioned.
